Research Brief: Forecasting AIMS from AZCCRS Tests
|
Research Question
- Can local assessments aligned to AZCCRS accurately forecast student performance on AIMS assessments aligned to older AZ standards?
Approach
- ATI annually investigates Galileo predictive validity by examining the correlation between student scores on district/charter-wide Galileo assessments and student scores on statewide assessments.
- ATI annually investigates Galileo forecasting accuracy by examining how students classified at different levels of risk based on Galileo assessments ultimately perform on the statewide assessments.
- The current research evaluated the predictive validity and forecasting accuracy for Galileo assessments administered in the 2012-13 school year with respect to the spring 2013 AIMS assessments.
- In 2012-13, districts/charters were transitioning their assessment programs. Some administered Galileo assessments aligned to AZCCRS and some administered Galileo assessments aligned to older AZ standards.
- This variability enabled a comparison of predictive validity and forecasting for Galileo assessments aligned to AZCCRS and those aligned to older AZ standards.
